Today we have to say goodbye to Professor Gonzalo Vélez Jahn, a pioneer in distance learning and virtual reality in architecture, founder of the Laboratory of Advanced Techniques in Design (LTAD) of the FAU – the Central University of Venezuela in 1974.

Pioneer of Virtual Reality, already in 1991, he gave a conference on its application in the first Ibero-American Congress of Education and Technology. He directed the first research group dedicated to architecture on the Internet, architecture-l, and convened the Virtual Architecture Congresses. He also taught the subjects Advanced Seminar on the Use of Computers in Architecture (SAUCA) and Advanced Topics in Computing (TIA). As an active member of our SIGraDi community, he received the first Arturo Montagú award.

Gonzalo was a visionary, we admire him and we will remember him forever.
