CALL FOR CHAPTERS

Full Chapters Due: June 30, 2014

INTRODUCTION

For release in theAdvances in Geospatial Technologies (AGT)Book Series.

TheAdvances in Geospatial Technologies (AGT) Book Seriesis a reference source and outlet for research that discusses all aspects of geographic information, including areas such as geomatics, geodesy, GIS, cartography, remote sensing, and other areas. Because geospatial technologies are so pervasive in such a variety of areas, AGT also includes books that address interdisciplinary applications of the technologies.

Digital technologies have produced important changes in surveying, modeling and representation of architectural heritage. In particular, the process of historical and critical knowledge has focused on the use of complex models that favor new epistemological approaches to architectural disciplines. Models can be useful instruments for studying buildings, for developing digital archives and informative systems, and for the exploitation of architectural heritage. The subject of the book is how digital technologies can favor architectural heritage knowledge, analysis, protection and exploitation.

Objective
The aim of the book is to bring the attention of the international community on the issues relating to the application of digital technologies, specifically to architectural heritage, defining the state of the art and focusing on the most advanced lines of research, sharing disputes and proposing solutions.

In particular, the book wants to highlight the point of view of scholars of architecture, involved in digital technologies experimentation. At the same time, the book wishes to be an essential reference source for all those who are interested in architectural heritage’s studying, proposing methodologies, concepts, instruments, and examples for scientific discussion. Particular importance is given to in-depth, up-to-date and accurate reference citations, literature reviews and research results, aspects which can effectively promote the development of research and knowledge.

Target Audience
Professionals, academicians and students working in the field of architectural heritage. Scholars of surveying interested in architectural heritage. Scholars of information technologies, computer graphics, and digital modeling interested in architectural heritage can find in this text useful on specific architectural issues. Software house interested in developing their tools for architectural applications. People involved in management and enhancement of the architectural heritage and historical towns.
